On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Professional High School of Stone Processing in the village of Kunino, we hosted vocational training teachers Master Pavel Doskočil, Adéla Krejčová, and Vronislav Fiutowski from the stonemasonry school in Hořice, Czech Republic. The school is a high-level institution that trains and educates numerous stone processing professionals, influencing the development of sculpture in the Czech Republic. Among the school’s alumni are Rudolf Braun, the first director of the Professional High School of Stone Processing in Kunino, Bulgaria, and specialist teacher Josef Škvára.
During their stay, the teachers from the stonemasonry school in Hořice, Czech Republic, held productive working meetings at the Ministry of Culture, the National Academy of Arts, and the Ministry of Education. They met with the Mayor of Roman Municipality and the Mayor of the village of Kunino. They exchanged experience with the faculty of the Professional High School of Stone Processing in Kunino, inspired the high school students, and familiarized themselves with the operations of processing plants and quarries for Vratsa limestone in the Kunino area and the Vratsa region.
During the teachers’ visit, opportunities for joint future activities and project work were discussed, as well as possibilities for applying for the Erasmus+ program. These joint activities will help promote the work of our school!
It has become a tradition at our school to receive a ring, a replica of the ring belonging to Usta Kolyu Ficheto—the most brilliant builder, mason, and stonemason in Bulgaria. Every graduating student receives such a ring, creating a community that will remain recognizable over the years. This gift is not accidental, and our guests were also presented with one.
